Will Nightwing Appear in Batman Vs. Superman?

The Batman Vs. Superman rumor mill keeps churning out new and intriguing possibilities for this ultra-secretive sequel, the latest of which indicates that Ben Affleck's Batman may have a sidekick. An unconfirmed report reveals that Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Robin, a.k.a. Nightwing, will be a part of this movie.

Agency sources reveal that the producers are looking for a "young John Hawkes type" of actor for this role, meaning they are seeking a younger actor with the same type of acting style as John Hawkes. There have been actors who have read for the role at this time, but it isn't known who any of these actors may be. This comes just one day after a report that Olga Kurylenko has tested to play Wonder Woman in the sequel.

Back in September, we reported that this version of Batman will be, "tired, weary and seasoned" after protecting Gotham for so many years. Insiders reveal that, in the sequel, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson haven't spoken in years after the hero and sidekick had some sort of a falling out between them. In the comic books, Bruce Wayne was granted legal custody of Dick Grayson, after mafia leaders killed Grayson's parents. After serving as Batman's sidekick, Robin, he moved on to form his own superhero alter-ego, Nightwing.

In related news, we reported last week that Warner Bros. is hosting an online fan event on Saturday, November 9 to promote the release of Man of Steel on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD, which will be moderated by Kevin Smith. During his most recent Hollywood Babble-On podcast, Kevin Smith teased that the event may feature new artwork for Batman Vs. Superman.

"They're doing a special on Yahoo that I'm hosting, Zack Snyder is the featured guest, but it's all about Man of Steel. So it's me, Zack Snyder, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill is on video from London or he may even be on set with us, and then there's some Michael Shannon stuff. So it's an hour long, it's free, it's on the internet, but it's just kind of to be like 'Hey, Man of Steel is coming out!' But there's two things, there might be announcements during this show and the one thing I do know is there's artwork going to be on this show that may or may not have something to do with a movie that's coming up."

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Warner Bros. at this time. All that we know for sure is that Zack Snyder is directing from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, with Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) returning alongside Ben Affleck as Batman.

Batman Vs. Superman comes to theaters July 17th, 2015 and stars Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.
