Ab-tastic CW drama “Arrow” isn’t back until next Wednesday, but in the meantime, get a reminder of what happened on the first season with “Arrow: Year One” (CW at 8). The one-hour special looks back at how billionaire Oliver Queen secretly became superhero Arrow, after he carries out his father’s dying wish to take down Starling City’s corrupt power players.
Over on “The X Factor” (Fox at 8), judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio split the final contestants into categories, and decide whether they’re gonig to mentor the boys, girls, groups, or singers over age 25.
Things aren’t going so well on the pit-family-and-friends-against-each-other edition of “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” (CBS at 8), as one player quits the show when the pressure is too much.
Is it too soon for “Law & Order: SVU” (NBC at 9) to rip the Trayvon Martin story and the Paula Deen controversy from the headlines? Either way, the procedural is tackling both subjects at once in Tuesday’s episode, as a celebrity chef (guest star Cybill Shepherd) shoots and kills an unarmed teen, setting off a racially-charged case.
Daniel Radcliffe plays a younger version of Jon Hamm (yeah, wrap your mind around that one) in British dark comedy “A Young Doctor’s Notebook” (Ovation at 10), making its American television debut. In the series, Hamm is an older doctor reminiscing about his past as a medical professional at a small village hospital during the Russian Revolution.
Juliette’s smugness fades when the teenage winner of a reality singing show takes over the top of the country charts on “Nashville” (ABC at 10); meanwhile, a new record label president stirs up trouble.
SERIES PREMIERE: Joel McHale’s pop culture-skewerfest “The Soup” gets a spin-off with “The Soup Investigates” (E! at 10:30), as McHale and a team of “investigators” get to the bottom of various celebrity rumors and mysteries.
Actress Kerry Washington and reality television star Ariel Tweto are on “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), along with a performance by Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band.
“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC at 11:35) hosts comedian Kathy Griffin, politician Newt Gingrich and singer/ reality show judge Demi Lovato.
