HIGHLIGHTS
It’s a big talk-show day Monday, as multiple shows launch or come back for new seasons. Here’s a look at a few:
●“Bethenny” (WTTG at 11 a.m.): Arguably the most successful “Real Housewives” franchise member ever, Bethenny Frankel launches a new show about everything from style to fitness. First guest: Nick Cannon, along with a musical performance by Flo Rida.
●“The View” (WJLA at 11 a.m.): It’s a historic day for the show, as Jenny McCarthy joins the panel, and Barbara Walters begins her farewell season. Guests include Donnie Wahlberg and Canadian crooner Michael Bublé.
●“Katie” (WJLA at 4 p.m.): Back for a second season, Katie Couric kicks off the first episode of a new season, featuring an interview with rapper Lil Wayne.
●“The Arsenio Hall Show” (WDCW at 11 p.m.): Arsenio returns for another go at a late-night series — his last one (featuring the famous Bill Clinton/saxophone appearance) ran from 1989 to 1994. Actor and comedian Chris Tucker stops by as the very first visitor to the show.
Speaking of shows returning after a long hiatus, CNN resurrects “Crossfire” (at 6:30) with new panelists S.E. Cupp, Stephanie Cutter, Newt Gingrich and Van Jones, debating cultural issues and breaking topics from the day.
SERIES PREMIERE: New game show “The Million Second Quiz” (NBC at 8) seems very complicated, but here we go: Players sit in a giant, hourglass-shaped cave in Manhattan and answer trivia questions against another contestant. The longer the competitors stay in the chair, the more money they make, but when they’re defeated by a challenger, they have to step down. After a million seconds, the top four battle it out for the grand prize.
Anderson Cooper launches another CNN show with “AC360 Later” (at 10), a panel discussion show about news and pop culture.
Actor Ricky Gervais, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and musical guest Janelle Monáe are on “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35).
“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC at 11:35) hosts actor Martin Short, talk-show host Meghan McCain and a performance by the Backstreet Boys.
Cedric the Entertainer is on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35), and Holy Ghost! performs.
