TV highlights: MTV Video Music Awards

Programming for the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington continues Saturday, starting with the

“50: The March & the Movement” special (BET and Centric at 11 a.m.); “Beyond the Dream: 50 Years Later” hosted by Kelly Wright (Fox News Channel at 5 p.m.); and “The March On Washington: 50th Anniversary” (WUSA at 7).

Original movie “Swindle” (Nickelodeon at 8) brings together stars from a variety of network shows, including “iCarly,” “Big Time Rush” and “Sam and Cat.” The plot: An evil collector cons a boy (played by Noah Crawford from “How to Rock”) out of a million-dollar baseball card, so he and his classmates team up to bring down the thief.

Sunday talk shows: “Platts Energy Week” (WUSA at 7:30 a.m.) interviews former CIA director James Woolsey, SVB Energy International’s Sara Vakhshouri and Siemens Financial Services’ Kirk Edelman; “This Week in Defense News” (WUSA at 8) has Center International Trade and Economics’ Terry A. Miller and VisualDoD’s Mike Cadenazzi; “BioCentury This Week” (WUSA at 8:30) features American Cancer Society’s Otis Brawley; “Fox News Sunday” (Fox at 9) hosts Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), Rep. Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.), Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R) and and Oklahoma District Attorney Jason Hicks.

“White House Chronicle” (WETA at 9) has General Atomics’ John Parmentola, NRGPolitics.com’s Burke Moeller and IHS CERA’s Jone-Lin Wang; “State of the Union” (CNN at 9) features Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), former Vermont governor Howard Dean (D) and former senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.); “Newsmakers” (C-SPAN at 10) talks to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.);“This Is America & the World” (WETA at 10 and WHUT at 6 p.m.) talks to author Lester Brown; “Meet the Press” (NBC at 10:30) has Lewis, Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R); “Face the Nation” (CBS at 10:30) talks to Gen. Colin Powell, Lewis and Booker; “Bloomberg Government’s Capitol Gains” (WUSA at 11:30) has former American Airlines chief executive Robert Crandall and Bloomberg’s Hans Nichols and Craig Torres.

Sunday morning, before the regularly scheduled “Meet the Press,” NBC airs “Meet the Press’ Special Edition: Remembering the Dream” (NBC at 10 a.m.) featuring the broadcast from Aug. 25, 1963, and full, unedited interviews with Martin Luther King Jr. and NAACP executive secretary Roy Wilkins three days before the iconic speech.

TV One re-airs “Sing Your Song” (at 11 a.m.), a profile of African American singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte, who became a figurehead of the civil rights movement.

There’s been more buzz around the MTV Video Music Awards (at 9) than usual, thanks to questionable rumors of an *NSYNC reunion. Justin Timberlake is confirmed to perform, along with Kanye West, Katy Perry, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, all live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
