TV highlights: 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, ‘I Have a Dream’ speech

Cable news and broadcast networks will air the scene from the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and “I Have a Dream Speech” at the Lincoln Memorial. The program, which starts at 11 a.m., features members of Martin Luther King Jr.’s family; Jimmy Carter; Bill Clinton; and a speech by President Obama.

The boy band One Direction has a new movie to promote, so the boys show up to sing a song from the film on the “America’s Got Talent” results show (NBC at 9 p.m.). Later, before six acts advance to the next round, “The Voice” winner Cassadee Pope performs.

SERIES PREMIERE: Can psychopathic behavior run in the family? “Evil Kin” (Investigation Discovery at 9) attempts to answer the question, starting by profiling a pair of siblings who were driven to murder after a difficult childhood.

SERIES PREMIERE: Even scientists can be confused sometimes. New series “The Unexplained Files” (Science at 9) looks at situations that baffle everyone. First, the show looks at a pilot who reported seeing a strange aircraft hovering over him in the sky right before he disappeared; later, the show goes to Texas to investigate strange creatures who prey on farm animals.

SERIES PREMIERE: Actress Charisma Carpenter hosts “Surviving Evil” (Investigation Discovery at 10), which tells true stories of female attack victims who survived when they fought back. In the premiere, Carpenter shares her own stories from more than two decades ago, when she and two friends were involved in a horrific attack on the beach.

SERIES PREMIERE: Patrick “Dr. McDreamy” Dempsey takes a break from “Grey’s Anatomy” to try to conquer the grueling automotive endurance race, Le Mans. Four-part series “Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans” (Velocity at 10) follows the actor to France to train for the 24-hour competition.

RETURNING SHOW: For Season 6, matchmaking expert Steve Ward decides it’s time to bring dysfunctional women and men into his dating boot camp on the debut of “Tough Love: Co-Ed” (VH1 at 10).

It’s well documented that Mindy Kaling loves romantic comedies, so it makes sense that the actress serves as a guest judge on “Top Chef Masters” (Bravo at 10) when the contestants make dishes with a rom-com theme.

Medal of Honor recipient Army Staff Sgt. Ty Carter is on “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), along with actress Hayden Panettiere and musical guest In the Valley Below.

“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC at 11:35) hosts actor Matt LeBlanc, comedian Natasha Leggero and a performance by Sky Blu.
